Jaichung and Me

I’m a recent PhD graduate who studied Computer Science at the University of Oregon. I am interested in mathematics, machine learning, computer graphics, scientific visualization, vim, linux, and learning new things.

I also really like board games, climbing, being outdoors, and movies. If you have board game recommendations let me know. If you have bad movie recommendations please also send them my way.

I’ve had a wild academic/professional life. Started off in physics, worked for a company building rockets and radiation shielding, and somehow ended up in a Ph.D. program doing computer science. Currently I work with SHI Lab @ UO but was formerly a member of UO’s CDUX. I’m mainly interested in generative modeling but I work in other other areas as well. I am especially interested in explicit density generative models, such as Normalizing Flows.

While I have a backlog of half-written blog posts I also write a lot of notes that I keep in my .dotfiles. It’s all text (I keep the repo small) and mostly use it as documentation for myself, but others may find it useful. In my dotfiles you’ll also find random scripts, skeletons, and you’ll get a good idea of the tools I use by checking out my rc files and configs.

I am currently seeking full time employment opportunities and I am always open for collaboration.

If you’re at UO, you can reach me at swalton2 (uoregon and cs.uoregon both work).

Otherwise use blog [AT] swalton [DOT] ai. This is a catchall domain, you can provide extra context by replacing blog with a specific context.
